- Recommended Fabrics : Soft leather or faux leather. Sewing leather (or faux leather): Stitch and baste with a fine needle and fine thread. Avoid unpicking seams since needle hales may be permanent. If your machine does not transport leather properly, use a Teflon- coated presser foot or stitch over a piece of tissue paper, which is tom away after stitching. Press leather or faux leather from wrong side, under a dry pressing cloth, at moderate heat and with no steam. Test-iron on a scrap of your leather.
